Herculaneum

Herculaneum (Ercolano in Italian) was an ancient Roman town the same Vesuvius eruption that destroyed Pompeii in 79 A.D. It one of the most important Ancient Roman burial site, since the Romans usually cremated their dead. The first skeletons were discovered in 1981, and after that more than 300 more skeletons have been found, mostly along the sea shore. Herculaneum was a smaller town with a wealthier population than Pompeii at the time of the eruption.
